Vulvovaginal Hygiene
Follow these guidelines to maximize vulvovaginal health!
Underwear - sleep without and use cotton underwear only.
Menstruation products - (tampons, pads, pantiliners): choose unscented, unbleached, cotton products
Toilet paper - unscented, unbleached, no additives
Soaps, lotions/detergents - unscented, without chemicals of concern
Cleansing - Vulva: use lukewarm or cool water, use fingertips, pat dry. Body: fragrance free, pH neutral soap
Vulvovaginal Moisturizers - without chemicals of concern (see IPH handout)

If having vulvovaginal irritation
Try loose fitting, pants, skirts
Try going without underwear
Pat dry rather than wiping from front to back
Avoid hot tubs, highly chlorinated pools
Try walking/jogging, rather than biking (we don’t want to put extra pressure on the vulva)
